When I first began commenting on Jez, I painstakingly crafted every post for maximal political correctness & poignancy of thought so that I might prove my worth. After four years actively commenting on this site, at a certain point you relax & rely on your reputation to carry your words. We've settled into Kinja 2.0. People recognize the shoe. They know I'm a good egg. And sometimes it's just not possible to squeeze every potential landmine out of your sentences before hitting the publish button. Lately though, people seem to be picking at words with tweezers, pouncing in search of something, anything to get offended by.

In the past two days alone, I've been called racist for including two black people —as an aside, no less— on a list of five musical artists I considered inarticulate/under-educated. And I honestly don't even understand what happened here. And I kinda just want to shut them all down by saying, "Seriously, dude? This is DoIt2Julia! you're talking to. I don't even roll that way. You must be new here."

I don't think I'm alone in this. I've seen beloved, recognized, formerly starred veterans sniped at for slut-shaming & all sorts of ludicrous nincompoopery. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like the political correctness is reaching a parody level fever pitch?
